evening primrose

Twilight blooms captured in luminous form, gentle sheen meeting deep, saturated colour. It carries the intimacy of dusk, serene, feminine, and softly glowing as if lit from within.

Evening Primrose - Colombian Emerald Collection

Each earring is centred on an octagonal step-cut Colombian emerald of 5 to 6mm, circa 1.88 carats across the pair. Around it, mother of pearl is cut to pear forms of 6 to 8mm, its shifting sheen set against the fixed depth of the emerald. Round brilliant diamonds are pavé-set along the contour of each petal, so the outline is drawn in light rather than in metal. The earrings measure 20mm by 20mm. Oenothera opens after sunset over a matter of minutes and closes by the following morning. The design follows that behaviour rather than the flower's likeness — mother of pearl held open around a centre that keeps its colour. This pair has been sold to a private collector.

Evening Primrose - Blue Sapphire Ring

A single oval blue sapphire of 8.3 by 7mm sits at the centre. Around it, blue sapphires of 1 to 2mm are invisibly set to form one continuous petal, while the band carries round sapphires of 0.9 to 1.1mm alongside round brilliant diamonds of 0.9mm, circa 0.1 carat. Total sapphire weight is 4.25 carats. The chalcedony is hand-carved into leaf forms of 10 to 12mm — larger than an earring would allow, and cut thin enough to pass light. Beside it, each invisibly set sapphire is grooved along the girdle and locked to a framework beneath, so the surface reads as a single field of colour with no metal showing. The band is open-tailed, curving round without meeting, and the table measures 26mm by 26mm. The mount is 14-karat white gold. Oenothera opens at dusk over a matter of minutes. This piece follows the stem rather than the bloom: the band curves as a stalk does, weighted at one end and left unfinished at the other. Please enquire for price, certification and viewing.

Evening Primrose - Blue Sapphire Earrings

Each earring is centred on an oval blue sapphire of 6 to 7.5mm, selected for depth of colour rather than for matching. Around it, sapphires of 1 to 2mm are invisibly set into a single unbroken plane, and the stem carries round sapphires of 0.9 to 1.1mm alongside round brilliant diamonds. Total sapphire weight is 7.65 carats. The invisible setting is the demanding part of the work. Each small sapphire is grooved along its girdle and locked onto a framework beneath, so no claw or bezel interrupts the surface and the colour reads as one continuous field rather than a run of separate stones. The chalcedony is hand-carved into leaf forms of 8 to 10mm, its translucence set deliberately against the density of the sapphire. The mount is 14-karat white gold, with a drop of 35mm by 20mm. Oenothera flowers at dusk, opening in a matter of minutes. The design follows that behaviour rather than the outline of the flower: the sapphire is at its most saturated where the bloom would be open, and the chalcedony carries the cooler light around it. Please enquire for price, certification and viewing.
